HEy readers!
So I was supposed to blog about this the moment I got home that day but I was damn shag and I still had essays to write. BUT now I am fReE because my Chemistry teacher was involved in staff recreation today so we didn’t have to stay back for 3 hours doing mindless corrections!! –partehhh – Today was my Physics SPA too though, in case you don’t know, SPA stands for Science Practical Assessment and its basically an ‘O’-Level exam whereby you are tested on experiment techniques and how you present data and all that science-y stuff! It can be quite fun but it’s not considering the fact that you have only an hour to do it plus you have a pair of eyes staring right at you, just waiting to catch you making an experiment-error. And I really did not want to screw this up(as if I hadn’t screwed up my life enough this past week) so I really tried hard and I am glad I finished it in time!OKAY! Back to topic. On Sunday, the JhMtYtWt Clan plus two of my classmates went to watch a play at the NLB Bugis Library Drama Centre. Let me just tell you how the entire library just took my breath away. It is practically the size of an office building, it has escalators that bring you to various floors, and even a cool lift with glass windows. It is so big they even have a theatre inside of it, and that was where I witnessed one of the most epic plays ever – Romeo and Juliet. I know what you’re thinking, “aiya play waste money only, can buy 28394571205 plates of chicken rice sua la” or “ewwww Romeo and Juliet is the most lamest ass love story everrr, like gurl puhlease” and to that I say to all you peasants out there:

The play that i watched completely changed my perspective of Romeo and Juliet as a play. I actually understood why it was so popular during its time and why Shakespeare is indeed a master of playwrights. It is incredibly hard to explain why but its like something came over me and i just obtained RNJ FEELS . You can never really comprehend something unless you see it yourself, being in a theatre is a whole new experience as compared to watching it with your class on the projector screen during Literature lessons. In short, you will never understand me unless you go and watch it yourself . It also sort of inspired me to maybe be more involved in the arts in the future, idk it just seems really cool to be part of such productions truly! It is really sad though that people find it a waste of money to go and watch performances put up :[ . I also read a news article today about an ITE girl who is becoming a well-renown actress in the performing arts scene in Singapore, really cool and it made me wonder if she could do it, why not me?? :D To be completely honest i would have joined my school's drama club if i had known that it existed before i was secondary 3, and would i have tried out for theatre at SOTA if i had known about it when i was a foetus? why not?? Not saying i regret the ignorance, just saying... what IF.
So what made this play so unique you might ask? Firstly the play has a yacht setting, even the stage is designed in the shape of a boat of sorts. All the actors on stage wore pure white clothing that suited to very tropical-vacation-cruiseship-feel of the entire play. Not to mention that they made the play into a musical by transforming the famous speeches within the play (ie. The Balcony Scene, Queen Mab, Benvolio's speech) into amazing songs! Really talented singers i have to say. My friend couldn't stop spazzing about the actor who played Romeo though, you have to admit, he did look a little like Zayn Malik. They turned every chorus into majestic pieces that involved everyone on stage to sing a part here or a part there. They even made Nurse do taichi and do the "Capulet handshake" all while keeping in line with her character(I cracked up so hard i couldn't even). I can't give reviews or anything because it actually was the first play i've ever been to, but imho... it was GREEAAT!
If you guys are interested in knowing more about the play, it is a Toy Factory Singapore production and you should check them out i guess! I like their company name, so cute haha.
In other news, i have been chosen to do something for my form teacher who is a British man. He teaches English and Lit so i was thinking WHY NOT A POEM?!?! So if thats the case i won't be coming up with #RPOTD3 as it would probably be directed straight to him haha.
Till next time :]
